Hey guys,
I know I've sent most of this information to you before in an email but seeing as some of you had trouble receiving it I'll post the most important bits here.
The format for the competition will be as follows:
The 11 teams will be broken into four groups, three groups of three and one group of two. Each team (except the teams in the two team group) will have three weeks to prepare both sides of the moot. The work in the preliminary rounds however will be much less than in an average moot. Two of the more important cases are already set out in the question. Furthermore, there will be no written submissions. Teams will instead submit skeleton arguments (basically an A4 page of the arguments they will be making). Teams may not argue points not set out in their skeleton arguments and will be penalised for doing so. This is to prevent teams picking up ideas from other teams. Obviously however, if you are responding to an argument made by another team, or interruptions from a judge, you may say what you like.
Four teams will be picked from the four groups as follows
In the first group say, there are three teams A,B and C. They will compete against each other in the following manner.
A v B
B v C
C v A
The left side is the applicant, the right side is the respondant. The three moots will be overseen by the same judge and the best team from each group will be picked on a points basis. This system allows all teams in a three team group to partake in at least 2 moots, one on either side of the problem.
The two team group will have only one moot. Accordingly they will have just less than 2 weeks to prepare their problem, and will be the last group to Moot, probably on Wednesday December 10th. If any team has valid, and provable, time concerns then they shall be put into this group. One of the spaces has been reserved for Diarmaid and Aisling, as Diarmaid will be organising the Law Conference which is on Thurs November 27th.
The winners of the first two groups will compete against each other in the first semi final. The winners of the other two groups will do the same. The final is provisionally set for Jan 14th. _________________ All work and no play makes Kieran a solicitor

Well done to Chris and Jolene for qualifying for the final!
Thanks to Dr. Catherine O'Sullivan for judging this semi.
The second semi will be held tomorrow between Louise and Michelle and Marcus and Aengus. As it turns out Lisa and Sean pulled out, along with the entirety of Group 4. As a result, the Group 3 moot is now a semi final by default. _________________ All work and no play makes Kieran a solicitor
